This Just In!

It happened. I can't believe it. This week two of my lifelong dreams came true...

That's right. I won the women's division of a 5K race last weekend. And I managed to getting a headline in the Island Times, one of Palau's two newpapers.

Sure, it's true that this is a monthly race, that the race had been rescheduled and not widely advertised, that it was scheduled up against a biathlon that the "real" athletes didn't want to miss, and that it was 5:30 on a Saturday morning, resulting in a grand total of about six woman runners. All that matters is that it happened and the Island Times reported it...

"Anna Shumaker and Habib shared the limelight as they took the top places in their respective categories in Saturday's Walk for Life event dubbed as 'Love Yourself' with an in and out course at the Palau National Track and Field."

We don't need to discuss the actual winning time, the misspelling, or how much Habib beat Shumaker by. All that matters is that it happened and was newsworthy.
